In Need Of Husband’s Consent

QUESTION:

Is it permissible for one’s wife to go to her parent’s house whenever she wishes, without her husband’s consent, or does she require her husband’s consent?

ANSWER:

It is not correct for the wife to leave the matrimonial home without the husband’s consent. However, the husband should occasionally permit her to meet her parents, by either taking her to her parent’s home or by inviting them to his home.  If they live in close proximity then he should visit them with his wife once a week and he may leave her with her parents at times.
