Inadvertently Narrating A Hadith
QUESTION:
Recently a senior Aalim mentioned an incident regarding one of the Azwaajul Mutahharaat Radiallahu Anhun. He mentioned that she was rebuking Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam in front of her mother. When the mother reprimanded her for doing such, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam defended her by responding that she even picks up her hand against him.
Please advise regarding the context, authenticity and status of such a narration.
ANSWER:
We could not locate any such narration cited in the query. However, there is a narration regarding Hadrat Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu when he intended reprimanding Hadrat A’ishah Radiallahu Anha for disrespecting Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. See the narration recorded below:
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: “اسْتَأْذَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ عَائِشَةَ عَالِيًا، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ تَنَاوَلَهَا لِيَلْطِمَهَا، وَقَالَ: أَلَا أَرَاكِ تَرْفَعِينَ صَوْتَكِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْجِزُهُ، وَخَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُغْضَبًا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ خَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: كَيْفَ رَأَيْتِنِي أَنْقَذْتُكِ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ؟
قَالَ: فَمَكَثَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَيَّامًا، ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَجَدَهُمَا قَدِ اصْطَلَحَا، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا: أَدْخِلَانِي فِي سِلْمِكُمَا كَمَا أَدْخَلْتُمَانِي فِي حَرْبِكُمَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: قَدْ فَعَلْنَا قَدْ فَعَلْنَا

Hadrat Nu’man ibn Bashir Radiallahu Anhu reported that when Hadrat Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu asked Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam permission to enter, he heard Hadrat A’ishah Radiallahu Anha speaking in a loud voice.
So when he entered, he caught hold of her in order to slap her, and said: “Do I see you raising your voice to the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam?” Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam intervened and Hadrat Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu left angry. After Hadrat Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu left, Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Did you see how I rescued you from the man?”
Hadrat Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu waited for a few days and then asked Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam permission to enter. He found that they had made peace with each other. He said to them, “Bring me into your peace as you brought me into your war.” Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, “We have done so! We have done so.”
Perhaps, it was an oversight from the Aalim whilst quoting the above incident.
