Question:-
I would like to enquire if there is any proof from the Quraan which states that the Ka’aba is the central point of the earth?
Answer:-
We haven’t come across any verse of the Quraan Sharif or any Hadith of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam that explicitly and categorically states that the area where Kaába Sharif is situated is the central point of the earth.
However, Hadrat Sheikh Ul Hadith Maulana Muhamamd Zakariyya Saheb Rahimhaullah has mentioned in Fadhaaíl Hajj that the earth was initially full of water. A bubble then appeared in the area where Kaába Sharif is situated and it is from this area that the earth spread out in various directions. This narration could possibly give the indication that this area is the central point of the earth.
Hadrat Shah Hakim Muhammad Akhtar Saheb Rahimahullah also indicated in his poetry that the Kaába Sharif is the central point of the earth. Hadrat Rahimahullah also mentioned that there are various ways and methods of measuring the earth. Irrespective of the methodology used in measuring the earth, all indicate that the area where the Kaába is situated is the central point of the earth.
However, the enemies of Islam will never accept this fact and therefore indicate towards other parts of the world as being the central point of the earth (such as Turkey and Palestine), but obviously this does not mean that the reality of the matter will change.
However, the location of the central point of the earth in no way affects our fundamental beliefs or our Ibaadaat in any way. We should, therefore, not afford too much of attention to these matters but should rather focus on those things that are much more important and which will draw us closer to Allah Taála.
