Masbooq reciting after the Imaam terminates his Salaah

May 7, 2023 | Salaah

Question:-

I recently heard that if a person misses a Rakaat in Salaah with Jamaat, when he stands up after the Imaam concludes the Salaah, then he doesn’t have to recite any Surah in each Rakaat, but, he will instead wait for the duration of 3 Subhanallah and then go into Ruku. Is this correct?

Answer:-

If a Muqeem (resident) misses a Rakaat behind the resident Imaam, then he will be required to recite Surah Fateha and a Surah when completing the missed Rakaat. In other words, he will recite as he would normally recite if he was performing Salaah individually.

Yes, if a Muqeem performs Salaah (such as Zuhr or Asr Salaah, for example) behind a Musaafir Imaam, then the Musaafir Imaam will terminate his Salaah after two Rakaats. However, the Muqeem (following the Musaafir Imaam) will be required to complete the remaining two Rakaats after the Imaam terminates his Salaah. In these two Rakaats, the Muqeem (follower) will not recite anything, rather he will stand for the duration of three Subhanallah and then go into Ruku.
