Masturbation Prior To Becoming Baaligh
A young girl was involved in masturbation a few years prior to Buloogh. At her young age, she would not read any Salaah. When she experienced her first Haidh, she was given the Taufeeq to never miss a single Fardh Salaah intentionally.
However she did not know the Mas’ala that masturbation requires Ghusl, hence 2 years passed in her ignorance, reaching a point of addiction. Allah Ta’ala granted her Hidaayat to make Taubah and she attempted to break the addiction. After learning the Mas’ala at the age of 14, she was granted Taufeeq to give up this addiction. Some questions have arose many years later:
Q1. Does she have to make Qadhaa from the age of 9 years old, as she was engaged in that action from around then, and she is not sure if that classified her as Baaligh, regardless of her experiencing Haidh only 3 years later?
A1. If after masturbation, semen was discharged, then she will have to perform all the Fardh and Witr Salaah that she missed from the age of 9 years.
Q2. Before Haidh, she used to fast mostly the whole of Ramadhaan, but had a few days where she may have broken or missed some fasts believing herself to be a child. She absolutely cannot remember but fears multiple Kaffaarah if she did.
A2. She should use her discretion and work out how many fasts she missed. If she cannot reach a conclusion, then she should continue fasting until her heart is at ease that she has completed all her missed fasts.
Q3. Will she also have to keep Qadhaa of all Salaahs and fasts missed for those 2 years after her Haidh, as she cannot remember the different periods of Tahaarat/Najaasat due to that act (she assumed this and had already began with the Qadhaa of that time)?
A3. There is no Qadhaa of fast for the days when a woman menstruates and misses her fast. Yes, if this heinous act was carried out while she was fasting and semen was discharged, then Qadhaa will be necessary. As mentioned above, she should use her discretion and work out how many Salaah and fasts she missed.
May Allah Ta’ala keep her and all the youth of the Ummah on the straight path. Aameen.
