Gargling and entering water in the nose during Ghusl
Question:-
Q1. When rinsing the mouth for Fardh-Ghusl, do you have to-do the following:
a) Gargle
b) Move the water around in your mouth, so that it goes over every area of the mouth?
Q2. When rinsing the nose for Fardh-Ghusl, up to what point does the water have to be entered into the nose? Is it until you feel slight pain, due to the water being entered deep into the nose?
Q3. Also, explain the manner to rinse the nose and mouth during Fardh-Ghusl when fasting? (Do we still have to gargle and enter water into the nose?)
Answer:-
1. Gargling the mouth rigorously in Ghusl is Sunnah and not Waajib, hence, if one washes the entire mouth during Ghusl (without being rigorous), the Ghusl will be valid, although the Sunnah will not be fulfilled. [Re:- Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Pg.159 Vol.8]
غسل الفم والأنف أي بدون مبالغة فيهما فإنها سنة فيه على المعتمد (طحطاوي ص66 ج1)
2. It is not necessary for water to reach into the bone when putting water into the nostrils during Ghusl. Yes, it is Fardh to make the water reach the point where the nose bone starts, which can easily be achieved. [Re:- Ahsanul Fataawa Pg.38 Vol.2]
3. Whilst fasting, one should enter water in the mouth and nostrils, and remove it without being rigorous.
