Musaafir Leading The Jumu’ah Salaah
QUESTION:
Many a time, we have Ulama as guests on a Friday. Sometimes they deliver the Jumu’ah Bayaan and the Khutbah, as well as leading the Salaah after being appointed by the Masjid Committee or the local Imaam. Considering that Jumu’ah is not Fardh on a Hanafi Musaafir, is it preferable for the local Imaam to deliver the Khutbah and lead the Salaah, or is it acceptable for the Musaafir Guest Speaker to do so?
ANSWER:
It is permissible for a Musaafir to give the Khutbah and lead the Jumu’ah Salaah, even though Jumu’ah is not Waajib on a Musaafir. Therefore, there is no harm if he is appointed by the Masjid committee or local Imaam to give the Khutbah and lead the Salaah.

وجاز للعبد والمريض والمسافر أن يؤم فيها بالإذن أصالة أو نيابة صريحا أو دلالة كما تقدم لأهليتهم للإمامة وإنما سقط عنهم وجوبها تخفيفا.
