Performing Taraweeh in sets of four or sets of two
Question:-
Is it permissible to read Taraweeh Salaah in sets of 4 Rakaats at a time? What will be the ruling if it is not permitted, but a person was reading in sets of four Rakaats?
I read somewhere that it is permissible to read in sets of 4, but it is preferable to read in sets of 2.
Answer:-
Taraweeh can be read in sets of four or in sets of two. Both options are acceptable. If read in sets of four, then one will be required to sit for Tashahhud after two Rakaats (which is known as Qa’dah Uula) and again, at the end of the four Rakaats (which is known as Qa’dah Akheerah.) However, it is better to perform the Taraweeh Salaah in sets of two which is the actual Sunnah. In conclusion, if you read Taraweeh Salaah in sets of four Rakaats with one Salaam then your Taraweeh is valid.
