Qiraat recital at a Walimah

Question:-

The host of a Walimah requested someone to recite Qiraat and make Dua at the Walimah. Is this permissible or is this Bidah ?

Answer:-

There is no harm in reciting Quraan Sharif and making Dua at a Walimah function with the proviso that, people will maintain silence and listen attentively to the Quraan Sharif being recited. The recitation of the Quraan Sharif is a means of attaining Barakah, and the mercy of Allah Ta’ala descends wherever Quraan Sharif is recited.  However, if people regard the practice of having a recital at a Walimah as obligatory, then it will be considered as a Bid’ah.
