Slandering one of incest

Dec 17, 2023 | Family Matters

QUESTION:

If a person accuses someone in the family of incest with their spouse, are you allowed to tell the person who’s name was slandered , and should you do so? Even if there is no truth to the accusation, a person’s name and dignity are being harmed.

ANSWER:

If the slanderer/s are unable to produce the required witnesses to prove adultery in terms of Shariah, then the slanderer/s will be held accountable in the court of Allah Ta’ala on the day of Qiyaamah. They should therefore sort their matters out in this world before it is too late by asking forgiveness if they have wrongly accused the victim. However, there is no need to inform the victim of these slanders, particularly if he is unaware of it.
