Umrah related questions
Question:-
1. Is it permissible to stop / delay Haidh using tablets due to an Umrah trip? We will be in Makkah Mukarramah for a period of 3 days and there is a fear of my Haidh commencing.
2. How should I wear my Niqaab whilst I am in Ihraam, as I am traveling with an infant that is a year old along with two other children? On a previous trip (without my children), I wore the Niqaab cap but found that my vision was limited with it. Is it permissible to wear the Niqaab on the face and pay the Damm, or what else can be done?
3. Also, are ladies of the Hanafi Madhab permitted to read Salaah behind the Imaams of the Haramain?
Answer:-
1. There is no Shari’ee restriction that prevents a female from using medication to stop her Haidh. Yes, if the use of such medication is harmful to one’s health, then it will not be permissible to utilize the medication. [Re:-Aap Ke Masaa’il Aur Unka Hal Pg. 278 Vol.3] Also, the usage of such medication could create complications (with one’s bleeding cycle) in the future, hence one should try and avoid using such medication as far as possible.
2. Yes, you may wear the Niqaab as you normally do and thereafter discharge the Damm. If you cover your face for an entire day or night or more, then one Damm will be Waajib. However, if you cover the face for less than an entire day or entire night, then it will be Waajibp to discharge Sadaqah. [Re:- Muallimul Hujjaaj Pg.243]
3. Ladies should perform their Salaah in their rooms. It is recorded in Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah that it is better for women to perform their Salaah in their rooms. [Re:- Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Pg.530 Vol.15] In fact, it is recorded in Ghunyatun Naasik that, the multiplied reward for performing Salaah in the Haram is exclusively for men and not for women.
وكذا هي (المضاعفة) في حق الرجال دون النساء كما حققه في الفتح (غنية الناسك ص76)
Also, it is necessary for the Imaam to make an intention of leading the women in Salaah in the Hanafi Madhab. It is unknown whether the A’immah of Haramain make a separate intention for women or not. In conclusion, it is best that females perform their Salaah in their rooms.
