Washing out blood stains after cupping
Question:-
Once a Hijama (cupping) session has been completed, there is usually blood residue remaining on the skin surface over the entire area where the cups were placed, and not restricted to the place of the incisions of the blade.
1) Is it necessary to remove all the blood residue from the areas where the cup were placed?
2) If it is necessary, will it be sufficient to wipe the area with a damp cloth a few times until a clean tissue is wiped and no blood residue is found on the tissue?
3) If the damp cloth is wiped only once or twice, and the area is free from blood, is that sufficient? Alternatively, please mention the correct procedure to follow for the area to be pure.
4) Will the same ruling apply to any Najaasat on one’s body?
Answer:-
- Yes, it will be necessary to remove the blood stains from the body caused by the cups that were used for cupping.
- Yes, a wet cloth may be used to remove blood stains. If no traces of blood remain after wiping the body with a clean wet cloth, then the affected area will be considered as clean. Wiping the impure area once is sufficient if the impurity is completely removed.
وَإِزَالَتُهَا إنْ كَانَتْ مَرْئِيَّةً بِإِزَالَةِ عَيْنِهَا وَأَثَرِهَا إنْ كَانَتْ شَيْئًا يَزُولُ أَثَرُهُ وَلَا يُعْتَبَرُ فِيهِ الْعَدَدُ. كَذَا فِي الْمُحِيطِ فَلَوْ زَالَتْ عَيْنُهَا بِمَرَّةٍ اكْتَفَى بِهَا وَلَوْ لَمْ تَزُلْ بِثَلَاثَةٍ تُغْسَلُ إلَى أَنْ تَزُولَ، كَذَا فِي السِّرَاجِيَّةِ.(الفتاوى الهندية 1/41)
- Yes, it will be fine as explained above in #2.
- If the impurity on the body can be seen, then washing the impure area once will suffice (if the impurity is removed). However, if the impurity is not visible, then the affected area must be washed thrice.
وَإِنْ كَانَتْ غَيْرَ مَرْئِيَّةٍ يَغْسِلُهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ(الفتاوى الهندية 1/42)
