Wazifah for increase in sustenance

QUESTION:

Is there any authenticity to the following:

Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “Whoever recites the following 100 times between Subh Saadiq and Fajr Salaah, wealth shall come to him unwillingly and humbled,

“سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ

[Ihya]

ANSWER:

Imaam Ghazaali Rahimahullah has recorded a narration that a person came to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and complained about poverty. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam advised him to recite the following Tasbeehaat and Istighfaar 100 times between Subh Saadiq and Fajr Salaah:

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ

وروي أن رجلاً جاء إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فقال تولت عني الدنيا وقلت ذات يدي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فأين أنت من صلاة الملائكة وتسبيح الخلائق وبها يرزقون قال فقلت وماذا يا رسول الله قال قل سبحان الله وبحمده سبحان الله العظيم استغفر الله مائة مرة ما بين طلوع الفجر إلى أن تصلي الصبح تأتيك الدنيا راغمة صاغرة ويخلق الله عز وجل من كل كلمة ملكاً يسبح الله تعالى إلى يوم القيامة لك ثوابه (إحياء علوم الدين 1/298)

The above narration is classified as weak. However, to practice upon it is acceptable since it pertains to Fadhaa’il.

Furthermore, it is mentioned in an authentic narration that Nooh Alaihis Salaam advised his son to recite the following for (increase in) sustenance:

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

However, there is no specific number (such as reciting it 100 times) mentioned in this narration.

ولأحمد من حديث عبد الله بن عمرو أن نوحا قال لابنه آمرك بلا إله إلا الله الحديث {ثم قال} وسبحان الله وبحمده فإنها صلاة كل شيء وبها يرزق الخلق وإسناده صحيح (شرح إحياء علوم الدين 1/299)
