Wearing a blood-pressure ring
Question:-
Is it permissible to wear a blood-pressure ring while reading Salaah, as fake rings are not permissible to wear while reading Salaah?
Answer:-
A male is permitted to wear a silver ring ensuring that it should not exceed 4.374g in weight, and a female is permitted to wear rings made of gold and silver only. Rings manufactured of other metals are not permitted. We assume that the blood-pressure ring is manufactured from metals other than gold and silver. Hence, in this instance, if the ring is worn due to medical reasons, as doctors are required to monitor the blood pressure of the patient continuously, then due to necessity, it will be acceptable to wear the ring. However, if such a necessity does not exist, then one should refrain from wearing the ring due to the prohibition (that wearing rings manufactured from other than silver is prohibited for men and rings manufactured from other than gold and silver are prohibited for women). Notwithstanding the above, if the ring is made of gold or silver, then it may be worn.
N.B. A female is permitted to perform Salaah wearing jewellery manufactured from other metals with exception of a ring, as a ring should be manufactured of either gold or silver for a female.
