When should a child start Hifz classes?

Oct 20, 2022 | Quraan-e-Majeed

Question:-

At what age would it be appropriate to start a child with Hifz classes, as it is a big responsibility, and if they start too young they might not understand how huge a responsibility it is that they are taking on?

Answer:-

A child is generally ready to commence Hifz classes when he is able to recite Quraan Sharif correctly. However, he should continue with his Maktab classes where he will continue learning Fiqh, Hadith, Tajweed, Aqaaid and other subjects together with his Hifz classes. In our estimation, when a child reaches the age of nine, he is able to recite Quraan correctly, thus he may commence his Hifz. Also, at this age the child understands the etiquettes and respect of the Quraan Sharif, Masjid etc. Therefore, we shouldn’t delay the child unnecessarily if he intends doing Hifz.
