Depriving the Marriage of Barakah

May 5, 2025 | Marriage And Divorce

QUESTION:

Would actions carried out to please one’s spouse, but are unfounded in Shariah, be a means of depriving the marriage of Barakah?

ANSWER:

Engaging in actions which are disliked in Shariah does bring about an immense removal of Barakah from the marriage and homes. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is reported to have said:

It was narrated that Thawban Radiallahu Anhu said: “The Messenger of Allah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘Nothing extends one’s lifespan but righteousness; nothing averts the Divine Decree but supplication; and nothing deprives a man of provision but the sin that he commits.'”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 90)

To preserve Barakah, the couple must stay in Halaal environments, regularly seek forgiveness, and keep Allah Ta’ala at the centre of their lives all the time.

ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
