Henna nail polish
Question:-
I would like to find out if Henna nail polish is permissible to use?
Answer:-
We are not aware of the ingredients used in the manufacture of the product making it difficult for us to comment. Secondly, assuming that the product is manufactured from Halaal ingredients, then too, we strongly discourage usage of the product since it resembles nail polish which is used by Kuffar women. The Quraan Sharif prohibits us from imitating and resembling the Kuffar. Also, usage of the product will lead to many young and older women growing their nails to keep in line with the fashion, whereas we, as Muslims, have been taught to clip our nails on a weekly basis. Further, if water does not penetrate the polish and reach the nails, Wudhu and Ghusl will not be valid. In conclusion, Muslim females should refrain from using the nail polish in question. Yes, there is no harm in using the original henna or Mehndi which is permitted in Shariah.
