Working In A Butchery selling Haraam Meat

QUESTION:

Is it permissible to work for a butcher that sells Haraam meat? Will the status of the money earned from this employment be Halaal or Haraam?

ANSWER:

If the majority of the meat that is sold is Haraam, then the income will be Haraam. However, if majority of the meat that is sold is Halaal, and only a small portion is Haraam, then there is leeway that the income is Halaal.

وَلَا يَجُوزُ بَيْعُ الْحُرِّ وَالْخَمْرِ وَالْخِنْزِيرِ وَالْمَيْتَةِ كَذَا فِي التَّهْذِيبِ (الفتاوى العالمكيرية 3/124)

اگر اس کا مال بالکل حرام ہے، یا غالب مال حرام ہے، تو اس کا کھانا آپ کے لئے جائز نہیں ، اپنا انتظام کہیں اور کریں ، اگر اس کا غالب یعنی اکثر و بیشتر مال حلال ہے اور کم مقدار میں حرام بھی ہے اور وہ سب مخلوط ہے تو آپ کے لئے اس کے کھانے کی گنجائش ہے (۱) ، اگر محض مشتبہ ہے تو پھر پریشان ہو کر تشویش ہے۔ (فتاوى محمودية 24/213)
